Astoria Oregon is well known for sturgeon fishing, perhaps the best in the world. We spent the day on Kevin Newells boat and he was so kind to show us how he consistently lands lots of these hard fighting fish. We spent hours catching and releasing keeper size fish not knowing that monsters were on their way in with the tide. "Holy smokes!" as one participant described the ordeal. The impressive marks here for the guide are not that he knows how to catch the fish as much as that he can keep 5 rods rockin & rollin without a glitch for 6 hours every day. He is always one step ahead of his guests.
