Deschutes River Fishing: Often refered to as a desert oasis the Deschutes is one of Oregons most unique fishing rivers. Originating from Little Lava Lake high in the cascade range the Deschutes flows Northward some 252 miles through Central Oregon to its connection with the Columbia river near Rufus. Upper reaches of the Deschutes are known as a trout anglers heaven and with sections of the river flowing between the richest trout lakes in the cascades, the variety of fishing is unparralelled for trout anywere in oregon. An entire network of insect rich lakes and streams all feed life to the river as it swiftly flows towards the high desert.
Wildwood park near Welches also has camping and access to the Salmon river. This park is disabled access able with paved or improved trails leading around the park and surrounding wetlands area.
Oxbow Regional Park on the middle section of the river has an improved boat ramp for drift boats along with several miles easy to access bank fishing water. Glenn Otto, Dabney, Lewis & Clark and Thousand Acers parks near Troutdale Oregon give anglers access to most of the lower river with even more access to be explored
by checking pullouts and parking areas along the Crown Point Highway.
